DAVIES: “Plaid taking money from Vale schools”

Conservative Senedd member for the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend Andrew RT Davies has demanded Plaid Cymru ministers pass on vital funding to Vale schools.

Welsh Government has been handed £340 million in extra education funding by the British Government.

But Plaid Senedd ministers have decided not to give it straight to schools.

Several Vale schools face a budget shortfall, thanks to what Mr Davies described as an “outdated funding formula that has not changed for over 30 years”.

He said it was “unconscionable” Vale school budgets would remain in deficit while Plaid wasted the money on vanity projects.

Mr Davies said:

“Vale schools face significant budget shortfalls. Plaid Cymru separatist ministers should prioritise sorting this out.

“Plaid have been handed £340 million in additional funding for schools, yet they’re not going to pass it on.

“Instead, they’ll no doubt waste it on ideological projects like the Nation of Sanctuary for asylum seekers.

“Since they came to power, Plaid have doubled down on Labour’s worst projects, but we’ve seen nothing on improving our public services.

“Nothing has changed.”
