Conservative Senedd member for the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend Andrew RT Davies has said Plaid Cymru must not waste taxpayers’ money on a Broadcasting Commission.
Culture Minister Heledd Fychan confirmed £45,000 had been set aside to fund the project, despite it not being within the Senedd’s remit.
Mr Davies contrasted Plaid’s ability to find this money with its failure to set out how its election pledge to deliver 20 hours of free childcare a week will be paid for.
He warned that both the time and money spent on vanity projects is a “distraction” and preventing ministers from improving public services.
Mr Davies said:
“Plaid Cymru separatists are spending tens of thousands of pounds on this vanity project – despite it sitting clearly outside their remit.
“There can be no justification for wasting money on a so-called broadcasting commission while Plaid’s unfunded free childcare promise remains undelivered.
“Senedd ministers must scrap all spending on non-devolved issues.”
