Conservative Senedd member for the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend Andrew RT Davies has warned Plaid Cymru ministers are continuing to withhold money from local schools.
Teaching unions have said the additional £60 million in Additional Learning Needs funding agreed in a mini-budget deal between Plaid Cymru and Labour will prove insufficient.
They have warned school leaders lack the resources necessary to delivery statutory provision required by law.
Plaid Cymru ministers have been handed £322 million in ALN funding by the British Government in Westminster.
The additional £60 million represents just a fraction of this, the remainder of which looks set to be spent on other projects.
Mr Davies said:
“Schools are required by law to provide statutory ALN provision – yet Plaid Cymru separatist ministers continue to withhold the necessary resources to do so.
“The British Government has given Plaid an extra £322 million for this purpose – but they look set to continue wasting a large chunk on vanity projects like fake embassies abroad.
“Teaching unions are right to warn this is unsustainable – while ALN needs reform, schools must be given the cash to deliver services they are legally required to provide under the current framework.”
