DAVIES: “Pendoylan diversion arrangements insufficient”

Conservative Senedd member for the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend Andrew RT Davies has warned diversion arrangements to allow for road maintenance in the Pendoylan area are “insufficient”.

Pendoylan Road has been closed for around 8 days to allow for the repair of a damaged masonry bridge.

A diversion route is in place via Redway Road from the A48, through Warren Mill Lane and Tre-Dodridge Village. It rejoins Pendoylan Road at Clawdd Coch.

Mr Davies has been contacted by several constituents, warning of tailbacks along the diversion route.

Residents have described “gridlock” and have been stuck in traffic for periods lasting almost an hour.

Mr Davies said:

“While these works are necessary, the Council’s contingency arrangements are insufficient.

“The diversion route through Tre Dodridge is unable to cope with the volume of traffic, causing significant tailbacks.

“Action must be taken to mitigate disruption. Lessons must be learned to ensure this isn’t repeated.”
