DAVIES: “Vale student’s campaign to tackle loneliness inspirational”

South Wales Central Conservative MS Andrew RT Davies has praised Vale of Glamorgan student Hope Shakespeare on her campaign to tackle student loneliness.

Hope, from Llantwit Major, has launched The RISE initiative, which stands for reclaim, inspire, shine and educate.

1-in-4 students encounter loneliness, something Hope experienced while studying at the University of South Wales.

She has developed a two-year plan to turn the campaign into a fully fledged charity, that will provide support to help tackle the loneliness epidemic.

Hope is also a finalist for the Miss Wales pageant, through which she plans to use her platform to champion the cause.

Mr Davies praised Hope for her enthusiasm, commitment and dedication, and pledged his support to the campaign.

Mr Davies said:

“Hope’s passion for helping others is truly inspirational – and her RISE campaign to tackle student loneliness is a fantastic initiative.

“It is really pleasing to see her putting so much effort and enthusiasm into it – she is doing Llantwit Major and the Vale of Glamorgan proud.

“I wish hope best of luck with both RISE and her bid to become Miss Wales, as well as all her work to champion the cause.”

Hope Shakespeare said:

“I want to show all students who may be struggling with loneliness that this is nothing to be ashamed of and there is always support out there.
