South Wales Central Conservative MS Andrew RT Davies has paid tribute to Team GB for serving as “outstanding ambassadors for our nation” at the Winter Olympic Games.
The British team ended the game with three gold medals, marking our country’s best games to date.
The team won five medals overall.
Mr Davies said the games would inspire aspirational young sportsmen and women across the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend.
He said the Olympians’ achievements showed what hard work, passion and dedication can achieve.
Mr Davies said:
Team GB’s record breaking achievements in Italy mark our nation’s most successful Winter Olympics to date. All the British Olympians competing did us proud.
The passion, dedication and commitment of all those competing for Team GB was truly inspiring.
They are important role models for aspiring young sportsmen and women in the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend who also dream of going on to represent the British nation at the highest level.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching over the past fortnight and I’m disappointed to see it come to an end.
I send my warmest congratulations to all those who had the honour of representing Britain at the games.
