Davies: “Repair Vale potholes within 48 hours”

South Wales Central Conservative MS Andrew RT Davies has called on the Vale of Glamorgan to ensure potholes are repaired within 48 hours of being reported.

The state of Vale roads has got progressively worse in recent months.

Mr Davies said his inbox was full of complaints from residents, warning of the safety hazards posed and the risk of damage to vehicles.

The Welsh Conservative Senedd election manifesto was launched this week, which included a pothole guarantee.

This legal requirement would require local authorities to repair potholes within 48 hours of being reported.

Mr Davies said:

The state of the roads is unacceptable across the Vale, both in rural and urban areas.

Potholes don’t just pose a safety hazard for road users and pedestrians. They also cause expensive damage to vehicles.

A legal duty that requires potholes to be repaired within 48 hours of being reported would deliver instant results.

That’s why Welsh Conservatives have included the pledge in our Senedd manifesto.

But there’s no reason the Vale Council can’t commit to introducing a 48-hour pothole pledge right now – and I urge them to do so.
