South Wales Central Conservative MS Andrew RT Davies has pressed rail bosses to deliver on commitments to introduce more train services in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Mr Davies recently visited Barry station, where he met Transport for Wales’ Gethin Jones and Great Western Railway’s Tomos Lydon.
As well as discussing the frequency of services, they also spoke about safety on trains.
Four trains an hour currently run between Barry, Dinas Powys and Cardiff. Three of these continue to Barry Island, while one train an hour serves Rhoose, Llantwit Major and Bridgend.
Mr Davies said Vale residents had been promised more trains for many years and it was vital these are delivered as soon as possible.
Mr Davies said:
Rhoose and Llantwit Major only get one train per hour and this is clearly insufficient.
Senedd ministers have promised Vale residents more trains for years, yet this is still to come to fruition.
More trains would improve connectivity and boost our economy, and it’s vital we keep pressing until it happens.
