DAVIES: “Civil Service anti-racism performance objectives must be scrapped”

Conservative Senedd member for the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend Andrew RT Davies has called for Senior Civil Servants’ anti-racist performance objectives to be scrapped.

In a letter to Mr Davies, Welsh Government Permanent Secretary Andrew Goodall confirmed all Senior Civil Servants are “expected to demonstrate leadership on anti-racism, in line with Welsh Government priorities, our values and our commitment to the Anti-Racist Wales plan.”

Mr Davies described anti-racism as a “dangerous ideology”. He warned it had led to discrimination against white people.

He pointed to police anti-racism guidance which had told officers to treat black and white suspects differently to ensure conviction rates were the same, even though offending rates may be different.

Mr Davies warned the performance objectives were set to embed anti-racist ideology within the Civil Service in Wales.

He called for them to be scrapped.

Mr Davies said:

“Anti-racism is a dangerous ideology and there is no place for it within our institutions.

“These performance objectives are set to embed it within the Civil Service in Wales.

“Plaid Cymru separatists must scrap them.”
