Plaid Cymru separatists’ flawed budget was voted down this week.
To be clear, I make no apologies for doing so.
I was elected to represent the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend after making a clear and unequivocal pledge that I would not prop up a party that wants to break up Britain.
It’s a promise I will not break.
The separatists, by contrast, are facing the consequences of making a series of election pledges they had no intention of keeping.
The result? A total shambles.
But the separatists refuse to pass it onto schools.
Local schools face a significant funding shortfall.
They face huge cost pressures around ALN in particular.
While I agree ALN needs significant reform, schools are currently required to follow a series a frameworks imposed on them from above.
They must therefore be provided with sufficient resources to comply.
If they aren’t, corners will be cut on things like school maintenance to make up the shortfall.
That cannot be allowed to happen.
