Conservative Senedd member for the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend Andrew RT Davies has condemned Amgueddfa Cymru after its boss admitted it was a “miracle” National Museum Cardiff was surviving each week.
Jane Richardson said a prolonged closure is a realistic option, due to repairs needed.
Describing the situation as “unacceptable”, Mr Davies blamed Amgueddfa Cymru for wasting money on projects to “decolonise” the museum.
He said the upkeep of the building should have been the priority instead.
Mr Davies said:
“While Plaid Cymru separatists insisted millions should be wasted on decolonising museums, building maintenance was ignored.
“This is a scandal of Plaid and Amgueddfa Cymru’s own making.
“If the museum ends up having to close, it will be a disgrace”
