Welsh Conservative Shadow Environment Minister Andrew RT Davies has called for action to improve water resilience in Wales.
A Ceredigion resident who relies on a well for her water supplies was left without water for the first time in three decades after it ran dry.
Farming Unions also echoed her concerns, with the NFU warning that rural areas are dependent on private water supplies.
Mr Davies said farmers should be helped to improve storage, with assistance to dig ponds being one such example.
He also called for action to improve public supplies, pointing out Britain’s last reservoir was built in 1992.
Mr Davies said:
“Across rural Wales, farmers rely on private water supplies.
“They must be helped to increase storage to prevent them from running dry.
“Action must be taken to improve public supplies too – the last reservoir in Britain was completed in 1992 and new infrastructure is required.”
