Conservative Senedd member for the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend Andrew RT Davies has told Plaid Cymru ministers he makes “no apologies” for voting down their flawed supplementary budget.
Rhun ap Iorwerth’s administrations suffered an embarrassing defeat in the Senedd, after failing to build support to pass the budget.
Plaid had been handed £340 million in extra school funding by the British Government in Westminster, but repeatedly refused to pass it on to schools.
Mr Davies said Plaid’s struggles were the consequence of making several uncosted pledges they had no intention of keeping.
Mr Davies said:
“Plaid Cymru separatists want to break up Britain and I stood on a specific pledge that I would not prop them up.
“This budget is flawed and I make no apologies for voting it down.
“In the Senedd election, the separatists made a series of uncosted pledges they had no intention of keeping – the chickens are now coming home to roost.”
