Conservative Senedd member for the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend Andrew RT Davies has condemned Plaid Cymru ministers’ decision to continue using the term “white privilege”.
The phrase appears in several Welsh Government documents relating to its Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan.
A 2021 report by the House of Commons Education Select Committee found the term “may have contributed towards a systemic neglect of White people facing hardship who also need specific support”.
Deputy First Minister Sioned Williams confirmed to Mr Davies Welsh Government uses the term “to reflect well-established evidence and language used in equality research and policy”.
Mr Davies said:
“Plaid Cymru separatist ministers should not be promoting the concept of white privilege.
“A House of Commons Select Committee found it may have led to the systemic neglect of White people.
“All references to white privilege in Welsh Government documents must be removed.”
