Conservative Senedd member for the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend Andrew RT Davies has demanded action from the Vale of Glamorgan Council to address traffic problems in the Pendoylan area.
Mr Davies has been contacted by residents to express concerns about disruption caused by planned maintenance works.
He warned diversion signage was proving insufficient, taking motorists along roads unsuitable for the volume of traffic created.
One resident was stuck in traffic for three quarters of an hour. They counted at least seventy vehicles in the pile up.
Mr Davies said the Council must look again at its plans and called for action to minimise disruption for residents.
Mr Davies said:
“Road maintenance works are causing considerable disruption in the Pendoylan area. Residents have contacted me to express concerns.
“The Council’s signage is proving insufficient, with diversions taking motorists along roads unable to handle the volume of traffic created.
“The Council must look again at its plans and take action to minimise disruption urgently.”
