Conservative Senedd member for the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend Andrew RT Davies has backed constituents’ calls for train service improvements on the Vale of Glamorgan line.
Mr Davies received an email from a constituent this week, complaining about lack of capacity on peak services.
The constituent complained the 0654 and 0754 services from Llantwit Major to Cardiff Central are always full and standing room only by the time the train reaches Rhoose.
He said passengers are “crushed” on the portion of the journey between Barry and Cardiff Central.
Mr Davies has raised concerns with Transport for Wales and demanded increased services, as well as additional capacity.
He said the Vale of Glamorgan Line had been ignored by policymakers for too long, with other parts of the network prioritised for electrification and new rolling stock.
Mr Davies said:
“My inbox is flooded with emails from constituents demanding upgrades to services on the Vale of Glamorgan Line.
“It is little wonder – we’ve been promised more frequent services for the best part of a decade, yet passengers still face cramped conditions during peak hours.
“It isn’t good enough and it’s time policymakers put the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend first.”
