DAVIES: “Plaid Cymru support for Palestine Action shocking, but unsurprising”

Andrew RT Davies

South Wales Central MS Andrew RT Davies and former Welsh Conservative Senedd Leader has labelled Plaid Cymru’s opposition to a ban of Palestine Action under anti-terrorism laws as “shocking, but not surprising”.

Posting on X, Plaid’s Westminster Leader Liz Saville Roberts said proscribing the group, who broke into a British military base and deliberately damaged equipment, “appears to be disproportionate and unnecessary.”

Her comments follow the appearance of the controversial group Kneecap at a march for Welsh independence in Barry, which Plaid Leader Rhun ap Iorwerth attended.

Kneecap member Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh was recently charged with a terror offence, and appeared in court on Wednesday 18th June.

Mr Davies said:

“Plaid’s opposition to proscribing Palestine Action as a terrorist group is shocking, but unsurprising.

“This Group broke into a British military bases and deliberately damaged equipment built to keep us safe – they are a national security threat, clear as day.

“This, along with Rhun ap Iorwerth’s participation in a march featuring the group Kneecap, shows the ugly reality of Welsh separatism.”
