Davies: “Welsh unemployment the result of Senedd ministers’ failings”

Andrew sat at a coffee table in the Senedd

South Wales Central Conservative MS Andrew RT Davies has blamed Welsh unemployment figures on Senedd ministers’ failed economic policies.

The latest labour market statistics show Wales has the lowest employment rate of any part of Britain.

The statistics also reveal Wales has the highest economic inactivity rate.

Economic development is devolved in Wales. As a result, it is the responsibility of Senedd ministers.

Mr Davies, who chairs the Senedd’s Economy, Trade and Rural Affairs Committee, said Senedd ministers must take responsibility.

He pointed to several policies, including 20mph speed limits and the decision to cancel the M4 Relief Road, that had seen Wales lose out on investment.

Mr Davies said:

It’s bitterly disappointing that, once again, Wales has the lowest employment and highest economic inactivity rate of any part of Britain.

Senedd ministers are in charge of economic development in Wales, and they must take responsibility.

Plaid Cymru separatist and Labour decisions to impose 20mph speed limits and cancel the M4 Relief Road have seen Wales’ economy lose out on investment and this has cost Welsh jobs.
