South Wales Central Conservative MS Andrew RT Davies has labelled revelations almost 70% of chicken served in Vale schools is sourced from China and Thailand “a disgrace”.
The information was uncovered in a Freedom of Information request by the Countryside Alliance.
Mr Davies called on the Vale of Glamorgan Council to take immediate steps to ensure pupils are served British meat only.
Mr Davies said:
“There’s no excuse for anything other than British meat to be served in Vale schools.
“Revelations almost 70% of chicken is sourced from countries as far away as China and Thailand are truly shocking.
“The Council must take immediate steps to ensure only British meat is served.”
