DAVIES: “Plaid Cymru’s arson attack celebration disgraceful”

Andrew RT Davies

South Wales Central Conservative MS Andrew RT Davies has condemned Plaid Cymru separatists after it emerged the party celebrated an arson attack on an RAF base.

In a post to X, the official Plaid Cymru account stated “87 years ago today, Lewis Valentine, Saunders Lewis, and DJ Williams burned the bombing school in Penyberth, Llyn. And that fire lives on, in Plaid Cymru”.

Penyberth was an RAF training camp, where British forces were trained during the Second World War.

Among those convicted of the arson attack was Saunders Lewis, Plaid Cymru’s founder.

Mr Davies condemned the party’s celebration of the attack against the British military.

He demanded they delete the post, condemn the attack and called on the separtists’ leader, Rhun ap Iorwerth, to apologise.

Mr Davies said:

“It’s disgraceful that Plaid Cymru separatists glorified an arson attack on the British military.

“Plaid must delete this post, issue an unreserved apology and condemn the arsonists Lewis Valentine, Saunders Lewis and DJ Williams unequivocally.

“Nothing less will do.”
