Conservative Senedd member for the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend Andrew RT Davies has called on Plaid Cymru Senedd ministers to ensure a new surgical and diagnostic hub is delivered at Princess of Wales Hospital.
The new Plaid Cymru administration has pledged to develop up to ten hubs across Wales.
But the hospitals at which the services will be located have not yet been announced.
Mr Davies warned that those which are not chosen could face a downgrade of services.
With residents of Bridgend and the Western Vale using the Princess of Wales Hospital, he said it was important it was not forgotten.
Mr Davies said:
“I’ve long called for surgical hubs to help address NHS backlogs – but it’s important the right hospitals are chosen.
“The Princess of Wales Hospital serves residents of Bridgend and the Western Vale – it cannot be overlooked.
“If Plaid Cymru separatists don’t deliver a surgical hub in Bridgend – this could result in a hospital downgrade by stealth.”
